In the News: AKA to perform at the Congolese FESPAM Festival

"The South African government through the National Department of Arts and Culture have chosen multi-award winning Hip-Hop artist, AKA, as the best "Urban Act" representative for South Africa to form part of the South African delegates travelling to Brazzaville, Congo today".

This 9th Edition of the Pan-African Music Festival (FESPAM) will be taking place in Brazzaville, Congo, from the 13 July 2013 to 20 July 2013. AKA is to apparently perform with a band as part of the South African delegates on July 16th and again on July 18th for the former President Mandela's birthday.

It's great to see our hiphop culture being recognized and appreciated  by our country, though I'm not certain AKA is the correct nominee to showcase SA hiphop. Then again, the Department of Arts and Culture(DAC) might have wanted a sing along artist and AKA is that dude.
