Back when I first fell in love with Hip Hop we had Salt N Pepa, Queen Latifah , Eve and who can forget Left eye from TLC. It was then when I realised that women had a place in Hip Hop, that it wasn’t just about that thug life and that well mannered calm down to earth people “Milkflow too” could relate to the culture.
All this memories about hip hop back then were restored as I came across Andy Mkosi. Word is that she is a poet and an emcee from Cape Town. She’s apparently opened stage for international artist Jean Grae and Pharoah Monch, also shared stage with Native Refugee, Password Crew, Syndrome, Supreme Soul and many others.
Andy Mkosi is currently working on an EP with producer Arsenic” which is to be expected end of this year or early 2014.
The track that stood out is “me and my music” featuring Obie TheReal, where she talks about how much she loves her music, defining how she loves what she’s doing using a stable raw flow and pace.
